EMS-Integrated Psychotrauma Field Training

This comprehensive 4 day course will transform your EMS (Emergency Medical Services) organization into a robust team equipped with the skills needed to assist people as crises unfold in an EMS setting. A core focus is placed on common tragedies within the scope of EMS service, including information on how to manage the psychosocial side of large-scale MCI (mass casualty incident) events.

 

This course comes with two additional modules that focus on integrating PFA knowledge and tools into the entire organization, from EMS coordinators, dispatch professionals, first responders, and mental health professionals to support staff including administration and logistics.

 

Our engaging and practical framework ensures that attendees leave empowered, equipped with the essential knowledge and tools to provide immediate support during crises. A core focus is placed on common tragedies within the scope of EMS service, including information on how to manage the psychosocial side of large-scale MCI (mass casualty incident) events.

 

Participants will learn to:

  • Understand the impact of psychological trauma during common and uncommon critical incidents in EMS settings on patients, families, bystanders, and first responders.

  • Understand how psychological first aid, when skillfully given, can change the way crisis survivors experience highly traumatic events.

  • Learn to observe, triage, and intervene during dynamic critical incidents in complex, tragic environments and situations.

  • Instill a culture of post-traumatic growth and mental health well-being among EMS professionals. This will translate into excellent trauma-informed medical care and improve employee and volunteer retention and organizational resilience.
